Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is an aptitude assessment developed and maintained by Assessment Technologies Institute Testing (ATI Testing) that aids in the selection process for college admission.

The multiple choice test covers English, Math, Reading and Science subject areas. The math portion covers whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions and decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion. Reading includes paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and references/conclusions. English covers knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling. Science covers science reasoning and knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles, and general science.

Registration and payment

TEAS is offered daily by appointment only; fees are assessed during registration and on the day of the exam:

  1. To make a test appointment, navigate to the FSU Testing Center's Exam Registration System to select a date and time for your appointment.
    • Upon arrival, FSU students must pay an administration fee of $12.00, payable by FSUCash only.
    • For non-FSU students or FSU students who do not wish to use FSUCash in-person, an administration fee of $15.50 must be made online through FSU's licensed RegisterBlast system.
    • All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  2. Once seated at the testing station, FSU and non-FSU testers must pay a second administration fee directly to ATI Testing via credit card only. Additional fees apply when requesting score reports. For more information, please visit ATI Testing's website.

After registration

On the day you take your test, you must present two forms of identification (ID) in order to be admitted into the testing room. Please ensure both forms of ID are active (not expired). 

  • One must be a government-issued photo ID with a signature (e.g.: Driver's License, Passport).
  • The other must have either a photo or signature (e.g., Military ID, Social Security card).

Extended Time Accommodations: Send us your accommodation letter via email at [email protected] or bring a hard-copy of the letter on the exam day to make the time adjustments prior to starting your test.
